In the UK, the rush of Royal wedding books has started already. Following the announcement of Prince Harry’s engagement to American actress Meghan Markle, the Pavilion Books imprint Pitkin is to rush out Harry & Meghan: A Royal Engagement by Halima Sadat which it hopes to have in the bookshops on 14 December.
The publisher describes it as “a very special new royal souvenir in celebration of this truly modern love story”. The book will include official engagement photographs, as well as other images, offering “revealing insight” into the differing lives of Prince Harry and Markle. It will provide “a souvenir for royalists around the world to treasure”.
Prince Harry is fifth in line to the British throne, while Markle, originally from Los Angeles, is best known for her role as paralegal Rachel Zane in the US TV drama Suits.
Susan Swalwell, Pitkin publisher, said: “Pitkin’s first ever release, Princess Elizabeth’s Wedding Day, was published in 1947 to mark Queen Elizabeth’s wedding. In the same year that we publish a 70th anniversary facsimile edition of that very first book, we are delighted to be issuing a lavishly illustrated souvenir of the newest of royal love stories.”
Pitkin has world rights in all languages and is pleased to be first off the blocks with a royal wedding title – a whirlwind piece of publishing for a whirlwind romance.
