As part of its Kan Yama Kan (KYK) book distribution drive, the UAE Board on Books for Young People (UAEBBY) recently donated 550 books to the Emarati-Jordanian Big Heart Library. Individuals and organizations from across the UAE donated the books.

Marwa Al Aqroubi, President of the UAEBBY, commented: “Knowledge is a key element that spurs development in society in general, and refugee communities in particular. It ensures a healthy environment that encourages refugee children to exercise their rights to acquire knowledge. Through the Kan Yama Kan initiative, UAEBBY continues to enhance its status as one of the top contributors of books to refugee communities to help them overcome challenges through reading and accessing various sources of knowledge.”

The Big Heart Library was established by Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, International Publishers Association (IPA) President, Founder, and Honourary President of UAEBBY. It caters to refugees as well as displaced children and young adults residing in the camp to cater to their educational needs and help them cope with their unfortunate circumstances.
