In cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Damascus Governorate, a group of Syrian intellectuals, known as Iqaa Al Hayat (The Rhythm of Life), has launched an innovative cultural project under the name ‘The Book Exchange Garden’ in the Al Qosour neighborhood of Damascus.

The Iqaa Al Hayat team, led by artist Mowafaq Makhoul, encourages people to exchange books through the public park library as well as borrow books from the library to read at home.

Organisers of the project will carry out an associated programme of cultural and artistic activities such as musical concerts and lectures as well as book discussions and signings.

The Book Exchange Garden has been widely praised by nearby residents and visitors to the park who have donated large collections of literature. Many government institutions and publishers have also committed to providing the library with a range of books.
