Quebec Book Fair hosts 1650 writers and publishing houses

The International Book Fair in the Canadian city of Quebec celebrated its sixtieth anniversary, which runs from April 10 to 14, 2019, with the participation of Algeria as the guest of honor of this year’s edition, and the Algerian writer and novelist Yasmina Khadra as the honorary president of the Fair.

The Fair was held at the Conference Center with the participation of more than 1100 writers and 550 publishing houses. It also hosted many writers and novelists of Arab origin, including eight Algerians, most prominently the Canadian-Algerian Sawley Murad, the author of Longueillistan.

In addition to the great demand for French-language books in the first place and the new titles launched by many publishers, the Fair witnessed the signing of several deals for the sale and purchase of the rights of translation, copyrights, and distribution rights among several publishing houses and book distribution agencies.
