In response to requests by publishers to aid the revival of the publishing industry in Iraq, the Economic Affairs Committee at the Iraqi Council of Ministers has issued a resolution allowing publishing houses operating in Iraq to export publications abroad without obtaining any license or export certification.

The decision by the committee, which includes representatives from a number of Iraqi ministries and government agencies, allows writers to send their books abroad for any purposes, including participation in book fairs and distribution in libraries and bookstores without prior approval.
