Maha Publishing, Distribution and Translation, founded by Saudi novelist Maha Abboud was recently launched in the Egyptian capital, Cairo. It is the first Saudi Arabian publishing house to be based in the city, confirming its role as a hub for intellectual and cultural influencers.
Maha, who chairs the Board of Directors of the new publishing house, said that the company will be a platform for creativity and will provide readers with a variety of publications from different cultures. In an attempt to make Arabic culture and literature more accessible, the publishing house will provide students and foreign readers with the translated titles.
Maha is the winner of the Arab Human Rights Award from the Arab-European Centre of Human Rights and International law in Oslo, Norway. She noted that the publishing house will organise literary competitions to discover young talents, adding that she aims to publish 5,000 book in the next phase.
