In an effort to meet the challenges and develop its business at various levels, Penguin Random House’s Crown Publishing Group, announced in early 2019 extensive restructuring processes to enhance its competitiveness and attract talent and capitalize on the expected growth opportunities over the next few years, with an ultimate goal to gaining a larger share in the global publishing market.

The restructuring included the departure of Molly Stern, the group’s vice president, after many successes, the largest of which was the release last year of Michelle Obama’s memoirs, of which more than 2 million were sold in two weeks. Stern will be replaced by David Drake, executive vice president and deputy publisher of the Crown Group. Gillian Blake, editor-in-chief of Henry Holt, will be also joining as the group’s vice president and editor-in-chief of the Crown magazine.
