Chinese-Arabic translation competition launched in Cairo

In an effort to support a new generation of emerging translators, Egypt’s National Center for Translation (NCT), in collaboration with the Chinese Culture Center in Cairo, launched a new contest of translation from Chinese into Arabic. The initiative is launched within the framework of cooperation between the two sides to translate more titles into and from both languages.

The terms of the competition require that the applicant’s must be between 25 and 45 years, and to translate Shi Yifeng’s “The disappearance of a girl named Chen Jianfang” , which is already available on Chinese Cultural Center’s Facebook page. The translated work will be submitted to NCT before September 18, 2019.

The first place winner will be offered $2,000, along with publishing his winning work. The second and third place winners will be granted $1,000 and $500 respectively, while other winners until the 10^th place will be rewarded an encouraging prize of $200.
