After an auction involving 11 competing cities from around the world, Bloomsbury, the British publishing house, acquired publishing rights to How the World Made the West, by Josephine Quinn, a British writer and associate professor of ancient history at the University of Oxford. Quinn is one of modern day’s pioneering specialists in Greek and Roman histories.

Expected to release in spring 2019, the book is the history of the origins of the West spanning 3,500 years. In this book, Quinn argues that western civilisation is not just a product of ancient Greek and Roman influence, but is a product in itself that was born out of unique long-standing links between larger groups of cultures and civilisations that contributed their renaissance.
