7450 exhibitors from 104 countries, including publishing houses and cultural institutions, participate in the 71st Frankfurt International Book fair (16 – 20 October 2019) which hosts writers as well as media, political and literary figures from all over the globe.

As Norway was nominated the guest of honour in the event, the Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg and the Norwegian writers – Karl Ove Knausgaard and Erika Fatland – delivered the keynote speech in the opening ceremony. Only specialists are received during the first three days and the fair opens its doors to the public on the last two days.

The administration of the fair, which was attended by more than 285 000 people last year, has announced an eventful program including seminars, workshops, and meetings for specialists. This is in addition to the guest of honour program in which more than 20 writers and poets take part.
