The 13th edition of the Erbil International Book Fair launched in Kurdistan with the participation of more than 300 publishing houses, libraries and cultural institutions from 17 countries. The Fair runs until October 20, 2018, and hosts about 60 events with the participation of dozens of cultural, academic and political figures.
The Fair brings on more than half a million titles covering literary, intellectual, scientific, religious, legal, economic and humanitarian disciplines, mostly in the Kurdish, Arabic and English languages. A special pavilion was entirely dedicated to children’s books to encourage the children of Kurdistan to read.
The Fair also hosts top Iraqi poets such as Kazem Al-Hajjaj, Muwaffaq Mohammed and Ibrahim Al-Buhrazi, as well as a number of international-award-wining Iraqi films. Theater and musical performances and book signing parties will be held on the sidelines of the Fair.
